We Believe…
What we believe is based on the biblical principles and examples God has provided for us in the Holy Scriptures. The following beliefs are not the final Word on Biblical truth, but are the foundation upon which we build, at ROLWC. (Luke 1:1)
The Inspired Scriptures
The Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason (2 Tim. 3:15-17, 1 Peter 1:23-25, Heb. 4:12).
The One True Godhead
The triune and one true Godhead is comprised of three (3) separate and distinct personalities, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, who are eternally self-existent, self-revealed and function as one entity.
The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus is the eternal Son of God. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary work on the cross, His bodily resurrection from the dead and His exaltation to the right hand of God. (Isaiah 9:6-7, Luke 1:30-35), 1 Corinthians 15:3 & 4, Philippians 2:9-11)
The Lordship of Christ
Jesus is Lord over all things in heaven, in the earth and under the earth. (Matthew 28:18, Acts 2:36, Romans 10:1-13, 1 Corinthians 12:3, Philippians 2:9-10).
Salvation
Salvation is the free gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and it operates by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God (Ephesians 2:8).
The New Birth
Jesus said: “Ye must be born again”. Therefore we believe that being born again (of the Spirit) means we take part in the death, burial and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, when we confess Him as Lord of our lives. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Water Baptism
Water Baptism is the public admission of our love, trust, and hope in Jesus Christ. It is the outward confession of our faith, commitment, and obedience to God. This process of being totally immersed in water represents us laying down our old life, our old sin nature being buried, and as we emerge. We are born anew in the resurrection life of Christ. A new fresh purposeful life! It’s God raising you from the dead as Christ rose from the dead. This symbolized the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
Those who accepted the message of Jesus as the savior of the world, repented and were baptized. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:3-6)
The Baptism In The Holy Spirit
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an important and necessary experience in the life of every believer. It is not dependent upon a believer’s worthiness, but is the free gift of God. We also believe that the normal entitlement and expectation of all believers today, and in the early Christian Church, should be to receive the Father’s promise—the Baptism in the Holy Spirit—according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Baptism in the Holy Spirit brings an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, a keeping-power for daily living, a deepening reverence for God, and an intensified consecration and dedication to God and His work. (John 3:3-7, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 1:13)
The Tithe Is Holy
The tithe (the first 10% of a person’s individual, gross earnings and other income) is holy unto God and that each Believer is mandated to continually bring all the tithes into the storehouse of his/her home Church and give free-will offerings to God. We believe that tithing is an outward expression of the Lordship of Christ in each Believer’s life, signifying the unity of Christ’s Body [the Church] in support of the Lord’s work. (Genesis 14:18-20, 28:20-22, Leviticus 27:30-32, Proverbs 3:9-10, Malachai 3:6-18, Matthew 22:23, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, Hebrews 6:20, 7:1-10)
The Sacrament of Marriage
It is our belief that marriage, as ordained by God, must be between one man and one woman. No other can be performed or condoned. (Jeremiah 29:6; Romans 7:2; 1 Corinthians 7:39; Genesis 2:23-24; Ephesians 5:22; Ephesians 5:31. ) “Each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.”
